Parc La Fontaine & Jean-Talon Market

We pedal together at a pace that suits us all — focusing on the journey, not the race.

Duration: about 3 hours , less than 2 hours on your bike.

Highlights of ride

  • We’ll ride through Montreal and head north on the Berri bike path, connecting briefly along René-Lévesque.
  • We then continue north to Parc La Fontaine, one of Montreal’s most beautiful and iconic green spaces.
  • We’ll pause at the Vélo Québec Café (at the northern edge of the park) for coffee and snacks. Vélo Québec has been instrumental in making Montreal one of the top cycling cities in North America—every cyclist owes them a debt of gratitude!
  • Next, we’ll take a short, easy ride over to Jean-Talon Market, Montreal’s largest open-air market. We’ll take time to stroll through the stalls of local farm produce, artisan cheese shops, and a favorite spot offering freshly shucked oysters.
  • Our return route heads back south, which is primarily flat or gentle downhill cruising.

Special Note: There are three short hills on the way up to Parc La Fontaine. None are particularly steep or long, and anyone is welcome to walk their bike up—no rush, no pressure!

Meet-Up Spot: All rides start east of Atwater Market, in. the Super C parking lot near the Pharma Prix at north end of parking lot. A BIXI station is nearby as well as a bike shop if you would prefer to rent one of their bikes.

Helmets: Mandatory for all riders.

Maps: We will be using Google maps Bike mode for those that want to follow on a map
